Hung out with Evly and LulaBelle this afternoon. What wonderful granddaughters! Had to take an hour and a half nap afterwards. The dogs too! We were all exhausted.

Had a fun morning hiking and sliding in the White Sands NationalMonument with the dogs.

Had a fun morning hiking and sliding in the White Sands National Monument with the dogs. The sand is gypsum which gives it it's distinctive white color. Gypsum is dissolved from the surrounding mountains during the rains and fills a lake with no exit to the sea. When it evaporates it leaves behind crystals that are blown by the wind breaking down into the white gypsum sand. It is expanding its territory every year and the sand field is relatively new, just 5-10,000 years old. Definitely and awesome environment.
