That was originally the owners house but he died just after it was finished. Then became the first museum. Finally a fire and the wind got it. They had winds of 106 MPH just last week!
I think the crater width is about a mile. Also now about 550 feet deep. Originally is was over 700 feet deep but wind erosion has filled in about 200 feet in the last 50,000 years.
