Leaving San Francisco we headed for Monterey, alias 'one of the most beautiful places I have every visited', by Shirley Boyce. Since Bill and Shirley have been more places than anybody else we know we took her recommendation very seriously! We stayed in the Monterey Elks Club that has a beautiful view of Monterey Bay from the pool area. Unfortunately you can see it from the RV parking area. Our first afternoon we took a stroll along the shore near the aquarium. It was gorgeous!

One of my favorite places - while you are so close, check out Carmel if you have time. Equally beautiful, but more quaint!
We spent a week here and made it to Carmel, Point Lobos and did 17 mile Drive on our bikes. Beautiful area! We'll be posting pictures day by day. This batch was just the first day in the area.
