Visiting Violet, my step-mother, in her new digs at Village Shalom.

Visiting Violet, my step-mother, in her new digs at Village Shalom. She was released from the hospital on Thursday, one week and one day, after her open heart surgery to replace a faulty heart valve. She probably has another 3 weeks there before heading home.

Hi David
We picked up my mom today and took her to lunch and back to her house for a few hours. As of yesterday she really wanted to get discharged from Village Shalom but after getting home she realized that she's just not quite ready yet. She has an enormous fear that she will not be able to breathe and no one will know or be able to get to her quickly What an unimaginable fear that is !
I'm working with Concierge Care to put in place all the services that she will need once she gets home. I'll continue to pay the bills and follow up on all the daily needs etc. while this service will secure and coordinate the benefits that she needs with regard to rehab (inpatient & outpatient) including transportation with oxygen, the standby care that she'll need and the housekeeping and meal preparation.
Thankfully there is a service that knows the ins and outs of the different bureaucracies that we'll be dealing with, and they will help get the maximum benefits that she is entitled to.
Hope to see you soon!
Susan
