We had no idea what to expect when we visited Canyonlands National Park.

We had no idea what to expect when we visited Canyonlands National Park. Boy, were we blown away by the raw beauty of the place. The canyon vistas just seemed to go on forever. Shafer Trail descended from the cliffs down into the first level valley where you could drive the White Rim road, about 100 miles of serpentine navigation. We attempted to go down Shafer but about 1/2 way down we started getting to nervous to continue so we found a wider spot in the road and made a hasty retreat to safety. Have some good videos of the drive but wasn't able to load them up over our slow internet connection.

It's amazing how Canyon lands is so much different from its neighbor next door, Arches National Park.

Yes they are!! That's what the Moab Fault did, lifted up Canyonland's some 2500' higher than Arches. That gave 2500' for the Colorado River to erode to make Canyonland's so different.
